The country’s largest Presidents’ Day Parade is in Alexandria where George Washington once walked. Spend the day exploring Old Town Alexandria, the historic town that was an important port during the colonial, revolutionary and Civil War periods. Date and Time: February 15, 2016, 1-3 p.m.
Visit Mt Vernon the 500-acre home and gardens of George Washington, which offers three days of special events including music, demonstrations, wreath-laying ceremonies and storytelling. Admission is free on Presidents Day! Dates: February 13-15, 2016.
Madame Tussauds Washington DC houses a US Presidents Gallery, which features wax figures of all 44 US Presidents. The interactive attraction brings historical figures and events to life through wax figures that visitors can touch, see and hear.
President Lincoln’s Cottage at the Soldiers’ Home in Washington, DC gives Americans an intimate, never-before-seen view of Abraham Lincoln’s presidency and family life. On the grounds of the Armed Forces Retirement Home, Rock Creek Church Rd and Upshur St. NW, Washington, DC. A one-hour guided tour of the Cottage is offered daily, on the hour every hour from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Monday – Saturday and 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. Reservations are strongly recommended. Call 1-800-514-ETIX (3849). Tickets are $15 for Adults and $5 for children ages 6-12.
