Girls on the Run of Montgomery County is a unique, life-changing, after school program for 3rd through 8th grade girls designed to promote healthy habits and an active lifestyle. Girls on the Run is located in over 110 schools throughout Montgomery County.
The dynamic 10 week program combines training for a 5k (3.1 mile) running race with education and interactive discussions about critical issues that will affect pre-teen girls as they reach adolescence. Trained coaches teach life lessons to girls through fun and clever running games and workouts. Our goal is that girls completing the program are physically, mentally, and emotionally stronger and better prepared to overcome the challenges and pressures of adolescence and beyond.
This spring season, the opening of registration will be split among three separate days: February 9-11, according to the schedule below. This will allow us to ensure that the registration process goes smoothly and that our staff has the capacity to effectively assist all registrants.
We serve girls in grades 3-8. Siblings can sign up together and receive 10% off their total.
Our program is open to ANY girl. We do our best to make appropriate accommodations. GOTR is offered in special needs schools as well.
We provide over $200,000 in scholarship support annually to girls that can not afford our full fee.
